anger
Anger is a core human emotion that signals threat, boundary violation, or injustice. In therapy, it is seen as adaptive energy that may become overwhelming or constricted, often showing up as frustration, irritability, or rage.
Its roots can include unmet needs, chronic stress, trauma, or family rules about emotion. Anger may also cover fear, grief, or shame, and when suppressed it can emerge as sarcasm, passive aggression, or bodily tension.
Therapeutic work examines what the feeling is protecting, separates present triggers from past injuries, and builds capacity to experience and express anger without harm. Methods can include emotion regulation, body-based awareness, boundary recognition, and structured rage work to process intense states.
