Bob Hoffman (1922–1997) was a spiritual teacher best known in therapy and trauma recovery as the founder of the Hoffman Process. In this context, "Bob Hoffman" often refers to his framework for understanding how early family dynamics shape adult behavior, including the "Negative Love Syndrome" described in his book No One Is to Blame.
Hoffman proposed that children unconsciously absorb and model their parents' beliefs and emotional patterns—while also rejecting parts of them—to secure love and belonging. His method combines psychological insight, emotional release work, and contemplative practice to identify these inherited patterns, process resentment, and integrate split-off aspects of the self.
