narcissistic sibling
A narcissistic sibling is a brother or sister who relates to the family through a lens of superiority, entitlement, envy, and manipulation—and whose treatment of siblings is frequently shaped by those same traits. They may sabotage, scapegoat, gaslight, or compete in ways that leave the other siblings feeling confused, diminished, or chronically on guard.
Narcissistic siblings often thrive in families where parents look away, take sides, or reinforce the dynamic. Adult siblings of narcissists may struggle with lingering grief over the closeness they wanted, anger at both the sibling and the parents who allowed it, and the difficult decision of whether to stay engaged. Healing involves validating their experience, releasing the hope of being seen fairly, and protecting their own peace.
